Kagoshima teas consistently shine with strong aroma, natural flavour and also offer the very first shincha of the season every year. Kagoshima Prefecture, with its top regions such as Chiran and Shibushi, offers a subtropical climate and highly nutritious soil thanks to a large mineral supply of sedimentary rock and ash from the Sakurajima volcano – simply ideal conditions for growing tea. Almost on par with Shizuoka in terms of tea production volumes in Japan, Kagoshima is also known to have the most organic tea farms.
