Our premium Guayusa is grown traditionally in small forest gardens known as <i>chakras</i> in the north-western Amazon, alongside the native plants of the rainforest. This form of cultivation preserves the important symbiotic relationships between the different plant species.
Guayusa is a species of holly native to South America, found primarily in the north-western Amazon regions of Ecuador, Colombia and Peru. In the lowland rainforest, Guayusa trees can grow up to 30 metres tall, while at elevations of up to 2,000 metres the plant tends to take on a more shrub-like form.
