Chasen - Matcha Whisks

Hand-carved from a single piece of flexible yet robust bamboo, the Chasen whisk is used to blend powdered Matcha with hot water. Chasen with 80 to 120 tines are suitable for regular, frothy Matcha tea, also known as Usucha, while those with 60 to 80 tines are used to prepare thick Koicha tea, as served during formal Japanese tea ceremonies.

The classic Matcha whisk handcrafted from white bamboo, designed to whisk Matcha in the traditional way, whether enjoyed on its own or combined with milk for a Matcha latte. Also suitable for whisking Hojicha powder.

Though less common than white bamboo whisks, black bamboo Chasen are more dense and durable, making them fantastic for frequent use. Perfect to pair with Matcha bowls and scoops in darker shades.

Made for the traditional Japanese tea ceremony schools, these Matcha whisks are meticulously handcrafted by Chasen masters in Takayama, where the craft has been passed down across generations for over five centuries.
