Tea Farm

This tea is grown on an organic-certified tea farm in Yunnan. The tea trees are between 20 to 50 years old and are only harvested late in the year due to the high cultivation height. Since its founding, the farm has been cultivating its tea under purely natural conditions; no pesticides or artificial fertilizers are used. In 2015 it was awarded the EU organic seal.

Character

Flavour

Traditionally, jasmine tea is produced by mixing fragrant blossoms with white tea. No additional flavours are added in any other form. We offer jasmine tea made with silver needles that is produced according to these same standards. The delicate floral notes of the tea leaves (da bai hao cultivar) perfectly complement the intense aroma of jasmine blossoms.

The most exquisite silver needles from Yunnan are selected for this tea. The needles are then naturally fragranced via mixing with fresh jasmine blossoms from the acclaimed growing region of Heng in Guangxi. The jasmine blossoms are mixed with the tea and then carefully removed by hand. For each of the three mixing stages, new blossoms are used. The resulting tea is exceptionally elegant and creamy with delicate notes of butter and an intense jasmine aroma. The tea is furthermore rich in L-theanine and caffeine.

Laboratory Tests

We go to great lengths to identify the finest organic tea farms across the world’s most celebrated terroirs. All our teas are sourced directly from the farmer and, with a few exceptions, are certified organic or come from pesticide-free farms. Each batch of tea for every harvest is tested for pesticides and other pollutants in an independent German lab to ensure they meet our strict quality standards as well as HACCP food safety requirements.

About Yoshi En.

Cultivation & Processing

The tea field is located in a very beautiful, mountainous terrain at an altitude of well over 3000m, which ensures a particularly high quality of tea buds. Due to the climatic conditions (a lot of rain, overcast skies, cooler temperatures), the first buds sprout relatively late in the year, in mid-May, which also marks the time of the first harvest of the year. The highland terroir offers ideal conditions with steep slopes and good drainage. Another special feature is that the buds come from tea trees that are up to 50 years old.

The jasmine blossoms used for fragrancing are sourced from the acclaimed "jasmine region" of Heng in Guangxi Province, Southwestern China. Numerous farmers cultivate jasmine on over 10 hectares of land there. Exquisite jasmine has been grown in the region for centuries.

Single Origin

This tea is exclusively sourced from one tea farm in Yunnan.

Preparation

Brewing Guide

3 heaped tsp in 100-300ml (70°C) water. Steep for 3 minutes. Suitable for several infusions.

Packaging

High quality, airtight, resealable standing zipper pouch with 9 protective layers to preserve flavour and protect against oxidation and contamination.

Recommended Accessories

For an especially aromatic infusion, we recommend a Yixing teapot made from clay, or a black tokoname kyusu with a fine ceramic strainer. Alternatively, a tall glass teapot with an integrated sieve can be used for a more neutral taste.
