Green Tea

Premium set of 3 premium organic Japanese green teas for daily enjoyment: gyokuro (fully shaded, ideal for the morning), sencha (1st harvest, mornings and afternoons), and bancha (afternoons and evenings). All teas are from the most recent harvest and directly flown from the farm.
  • Broad range of nutrition contained in the 3 teas, all made with rich and healthy cultivars
  • Gyokuro (morning): amino acids for an umami taste
  • Sencha (mid-day): catechins and bitter substances
  • Bancha (afternoons): milder than sencha, yang
  • Together these teas support yin/yang balance throughout the day
  • Directly sourced from organic farms
  • Laboratory tested for pesticides and radioactivity

Organic Gyokuro Shibushi, Premium (92/100 p.)

This masterful gyokuro is the perfect tea for those who want to drink a larger quantity of gyokuro. Pleasant umami with a full-bodied and strong flavour. The taste is balanced between a distinctive sweetness and lightly bitter notes, very nourishing.

Organic Sencha Kirishima, Premium (92/100 p.)

A mountain sencha with a well-rounded taste, from the choice terroir of Makizono in Kirishima. The high elevation in the idyllic Kirishima Mountains lends this tea a pleasant taste that is full of character, yet sweet and mild. The leaves of the southern cultivars in this blend yield a full-bodied taste as a result of the superb growing conditions of the terroir as well as the brief steaming of the leaves themselves.

Organic Bancha Kaori, Premium (92/100 p.)

Aromatic and fresh, low caffeine organic bancha made from the rare kariban (刈番) middle harvest before the meban harvest. Custom-made for Sunday by the renowned organic farms Nishi and Nuruki Seicha in Kagoshima. Ideal as an evening tea.

The 3 Classic Green Teas of Japan

As a result of the type of leaves used and the production process, each variety of green tea has its own individual characteristics. For this basic set we have chosen the 3 teas which we consider the most essential in any Japanese green tea collection. Each is suitable for daily use, and together they are a pleasure to enjoy over the course of the whole day.

  • Gyokuro (umami): mornings
  • Sencha (bitter): afternoons
  • Bancha (alkaline): evenings

Laboratory Tests

We go to great lengths to identify the finest organic tea farms across the world’s most celebrated terroirs. All our teas are sourced directly from the farmer and, with a few exceptions, are certified organic or come from pesticide-free farms. Each batch of tea for every harvest is tested for pesticides and other pollutants in an independent German lab to ensure they meet our strict quality standards as well as HACCP food safety requirements.

Brewing Guide

All teas: 2 heaped tsp per 100-300ml boiling water. Steep for 2 minutes. Suitable for several infusions.

High quality, airtight, resealable standing zipper pouch with 9 protective layers to preserve flavour and protect against oxidation and contamination. The tea is vacuum packaged according to the highest standards in Japan, with a small quantity of nitrogen added to the package to protect against oxidation.

Recommended Teapot

The ideal teapot for Japanese green teas is a black tokoname kyusu, which is a good all-rounder for preparing green teas.

Recommended Storage

Ideally store green tea in a quality tea caddy made from cherry tree bark (wooden, kabazaiku chazutsu) or an airtight, double-coated metal tin.
